Through four acts, we hope to present Anita’s life through music, stories and images.
Act 1 – Legend of Pop Queen
We trace Anita’s rise to stardom. From the stage of Lee Theatre to the four-sided stages of Hong Kong Coliseum, where she forever changed how singers performed at concerts in Asia, she mesmerised audiences with her ballads and thrilled them with her unique performance style in groundbreaking up-tempo songs. With every album, she appeared as a different Anita Mui – earning her the title of 百变梅艳芳 of the “Ever-changing Anita-Mui”.
Act 2- On the Silver Screen
Anita was an accomplished actress. She was as “ever-changing” in her movie career as she was on stage, playing leading roles in movies such as 《何日君再来》 (Au Revoir, Mon Amour), 《川岛芳子》 (Kawashima Yoshiko) and 《胭脂扣》 (Rogue). Her songs often feature prominently in many of her movies, but also in other movies such as Wong Kar Wai’s 《阿飞正传》 (Days of Being Wild).
Act 3 – More than Friends
Friends were always important to Anita. She also enjoyed performing songs by other singers at her concerts. This is a musical homage to three of Anita’s closest friends both on and off stage.
Act 4 – Classics
Anita always liked to experiment artistically and deliver different renditions of her songs. Deep down, she also knew that her fans enjoyed her songs in their original form, especially the classics.
