Join us for a fantastical evening of music as the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra kicks off its Silver Jubilee celebration with an extraordinary concert!
Renowned Dutch composer and conductor Johann de Meij, who first conducted the group in 2003, returns to Singapore to conduct two of his masterpieces, the highly acclaimed Symphony No. 1 – The Lord of the Rings, and the Singapore Premiere of his Symphony No. 5 – Return to Middle Earth.
Inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic tales, de Meij’s enchanting music will transport you to the mythological world of Middle Earth, where you will journey through the magical Elvenwood and descend the Mines of Moria, and encounter iconic characters such as Gandalf, Gollum, the Orcs, and the Hobbits.
The fellowship gathered will also feature the 100-strong Schola Cantorum Singapore Festival Chorus and Solo Soprano Joyce Lee Tung, singing in Elvish, to mesmerise you in this powerful musical journey.
